UAE's road upgrade project

The UAE Government is planning improvements to the Emirates Road in Sharjah, work which is expected to cost over US$231 million.

The UAE Government is planning improvements to the Emirates Road in Sharjah, work which is expected to cost over US$231 million. The project includes widening the link by building extra lanes, as well as building new slip roads, pedestrian crossings and parallel roads from Ajman to the boundaries of Dubai. The work is being set out by the Sharjah Planning and Survey Department.

    The authorities in Uzbekistan are planning for a series of major road projects in a bid to boost the country’s transport connections and freight handling capabilities. A total of 2,306km of roads will be either built or upgraded in the country by 2015. It will provide a long-term transportation and operational improvement effort to boost safety, cut congestion and while address roadway deficiencies and system linkage for the critical I-35E and US 67 artery.

  • China funding road work in Nepal

    China is helping provide funding for Nepal's road expansion. The Chinese Government has agreed a deal with the Nepalese Government to expand the Kathmandu Valley ring road. The feasibility study for the project has been completed and design work is currently underway.
