The consortium offered the lowest price of US$259.44mn (€207.50mn) excluding VAT. Italian partner INC claims that exclusion from the tender was unfounded and said it would turn to all possible legal instruments, including European institutions, for assistance.
The estimated cost of the D1 motorway construction works is €465.71million.The second lowest bid, worth €215.38million, was offered by the consortium of Slovak firms TuCon and6009 Inzinierske Stavby, followed by another Italian-Slovak consortium of 3149 Impregilo and Duha with €224.9million.
Building works should take three and a half years and the project could be completed by the end of 2015.
