Turkish contractors could build new Bosnian highway

An announcement is due shortly with regard to the Corridor Vc highway in Bosnia. Several talks have been held with Turkish companies for the construction of the highway. The project value is expected to reach some €2 billion. The project is of strategic importance for Bosnia, although the country lacks necessary funding.

    Key road construction projects are now moving forward in Bosnia with work on-track for the Sarajevo ringroad as well as the Corridor Vc highway.     The Government of Federal Bosnia & Herzegovina plans to invest e5.5 billion in building roads, highways and new energy projects. To achieve this programme a new consortium will be set-up to secure part of the necessary capital, while part will be financed by strategic partners. The authorities are also working on plans for construction of the Corridor 5c highway.

    The necessary financing package for Serbia’s key highway project is now being secured. The Belgrade to Sarajevo highway is already under construction, with 60km of the link having been built so far. The existing section of the highway connects Obrenovac with Ljig, while work on the southern stretch of the route is due to commence shortly. Serbia has taken loans worth €3 billion for its share of the project, with the Turkish Government and various Turkish banks being directly involved in supporting the works
