Turkey's latest highway

The authorities in the Turkish city of Mersin are investing heavily in infrastructure, with a budget of US$1 billion planned.

The authorities in the Turkish city of Mersin are investing heavily in infrastructure, with a budget of US$1 billion planned. The work includes building a marina, an airport and a highway. The new highway will connect the towns of Tarsus and Kazanli and is expected to cost $630 million. Some 171km of the highway will be completed by the end of 2011, with the whole highway project due to be finished in 2014. A total of $150 million will be spent on the new airport, which will be called Cukurova Havalani.

    In China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Zhejiang Province and Hunan Province, major infrastructure investment plans are being drawn up for 2013. In the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, an investment of US$17.7 billion will be made on transportation development. This will include work on four airports as well as building five highways with a combined length of 363km during the year.
