Turkey's latest highway

The authorities in the Turkish city of Mersin are investing heavily in infrastructure, with a budget of US$1 billion planned.

The authorities in the Turkish city of Mersin are investing heavily in infrastructure, with a budget of US$1 billion planned. The work includes building a marina, an airport and a highway. The new highway will connect the towns of Tarsus and Kazanli and is expected to cost $630 million. Some 171km of the highway will be completed by the end of 2011, with the whole highway project due to be finished in 2014. A total of $150 million will be spent on the new airport, which will be called Cukurova Havalani.

    Turkish highway authorities will tender construction of the remaining part the Izmir-Menemen-Aliaga-Candarli motorway on 15 February. The contract will be build-operate-transfer for the 76km section between the towns of Aliaga and Candarli. Constructions is expected to take three years.     All three of Moscow’s main airports are to benefit from major upgrades to their road connections. The authorities in the Russian capital have plans to repair and improve eight key connecting roads to Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo airports and with a target date for completion in 2015.
