Turkey’s dangerous roads result in frequent crashes

Turkey’s poor road safety is seeing the country suffer from a high crash rate. There were 307,000 crashes in the first nine months of 2017 in Turkey. These saw 2,700 deaths and 232,000 serious injuries. Over the last four years there were 4 million crashes in Turkey, resulting in 21,000 deaths and 674,000 serious injuries.     Brazil’s road safety problem is improving gradually. Data provided by the national transport confederation, CNT, reveals that there were 69,206 crashes on Brazil’s federal roads during 2018. Of these, 53,963 crashes involved serious injury or death. There were 5,269 road deaths in Brazil during 2018, the lowest since 2007, when CNT began compiling the country’s road crash data.
