Trimble’s simulator is specifically for training bulldozer operators
2122 Trimble used 688 Bauma 2013 to introduce a construction grade control simulator for the specific purpose of training bulldozer operators.

The simulator enables Sitech Technology dealers to deliver training on the GCS900 grade control system in a safe and realistic environment, without removing a bulldozer from production duties to carry out operator training.

Trimble’s grade control simulator features fully interactive joysticks, a motion platform, decelerator and CB460 control box, enabling bulldozer operators of all levels of experience to become grade control-certified.

Through realistic virtual site graphics, users can experience jobsite hazards, safety situations, and precision control of the blade. In addition, the simulator helps operators learn to read 3D design models.

Software used for the training process also affords evaluation of operator performance and allows feedback to be collated for strengthening the learning process.

Training will be available at participating dealers from September 2013 and a portable version of the simulator, using a notebook computer, joysticks and control box will be introduced for training at offsite locations.
