Transport plan for St Petersburg

The authorities in the Russian city of St Petersburg plan to invest heavily in transport infrastructure. A budget of US$59.24 billion in all has been projected for the necessary work. Final approval has to be given for the budget at this stage.

    The Russian city of Sochi is gaining 260km of roads as part of a US$47.75 billion (RUB 1.5tn) investment in preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympics.     The Moscow Construction Department has announced that the country’s financial issues will not halt current construction projects in the capital. Some US$1.23 billion will be spent on the development of roads in Moscow during 2015. The funds will be spent on building 83km of roads, 23 engineering structures, and 20 cross walks.
