The authorities in the Russian city of St Petersburg plan to invest heavily in transport infrastructure. A budget of US$59.24 billion in all has been projected for the necessary work. Final approval has to be given for the budget at this stage.
Implementation of some large-scale investment projects for road building in Russia’s capital Moscow may be significantly delayed
A series of major documentation issues are the cause of the problem. These have delayed projects for up to nine tenders on the total sum of US$2.6 billion (95 billion rubles), with anomalies having been found by the Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service.
The Russian highway authorities intend to invest a massive €16.78 billion (US$24.23 billion) in road construction and repairs during 2011. This investment will come from federal and regional budgets
and represents a 40% increase over spending made in 2010. The plans involve repairs to 5,500km
of road surface at a cost of €2.11 billion ($3.046 billion).
Repair work is now planned on the first section of the St Petersburg ring road. The work will be carried out from Gorskaya to Primorskoe in 2013. Design work is underway at present. The 24km road will be widened to six lanes and the road structure will be revamped. The repair will end in 2015 and will cost some US$373 million. Work on the interchange in Bronka will commence in 2013 as well.
