342 Topcon Positioning Group and 2601 Dynaroad Oy of Helsinki, Finland, have announced the release of DynaRoad 5.3 construction planning and control software.

Juuso Makinen, CEO of DynaRoad Oy, said, “One of the largest project management challenges is collecting real-time information from large sites and comparing it to plans. We’re excited to be the first ones offering a solution to this.”

DynaRoad claims to be the first software in the world to automatically monitor, update, and report schedule progress of earthworks sites. It links to Topcon Sitelink3D for as-built information and maps this to schedule tasks.

The completion degree of plans updates automatically through the internet as material is hauled on the site. Every load and dump event and haul route can be tracked, compared to plan and used to forecast future troublespots.

DynaRoad has been a part of the Topcon family since 2011 and this is the first major release. Contractors and designers have used DynaRoad products and services to optimise and control earthworks projects. Now this project management aspect is embedded to Topcon Machine Control products via Sitelink3D to add value.

Version 5.3 has improved planning tools with a map view for visualising planned project progress week by week. The software also has industry-specific tools. For example, for earthmoving, the new version allows the importation of quantity data from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and automatic haul calculation tools so, within minutes, the user has developed a mass haul plan.

Makinen said that the new version also provides an improved “look and feel in graphical views and has additional interactive planning tutorials, helps and sample projects”.

The company added, “Software ease of use is very important in our industry and we are taking it very seriously.”
