Tender process starts for Bosnian highway project

The tender process to construct a €1.3 billion highway project in the Bosnian autonomous entity of Republika Srpska is underway and will be open until 2 September, 2011. Bosnia's Ministry of Transport has held talks with a total of five companies so far. The highway will run from Glamocani through Banja Luka and to the town of Mrkonjic.

A consortium, Azvi-Copasa, originally won the tender for the project in 2010 but struggled to find the necessary financing.     Construction delays are holding up the opening of a new bypass in northern Germany that will connect the towns of Löhne and Bad Oeynhausen. Construction work on the link commenced in 2008 and has so far cost some €170 million. In all the project is expected to cost €208 million to complete. Although the vast majority of the work has been carried out on the new bypass some finishing works remain to be completed.
