Super capacitors show vehicle potential

A new study highlights the potential for super capacitors. This latest study suggests that super capacitors could offer up to 2-4 times the power density of the best lithium-ion type batteries. The study also suggests that the global market for super capacitors could be worth as much as US$6.5 billion/year by 2024. So far super capacitors featuring 35Wh/kg output have been demonstrated but the potential for this technology is thought to be substantial with further research and development. Super capacitors

Super capacitors featuring graphene technology are thought to be able to deliver up to 200Wh/kg while further research could deliver as much as 500Wh/kg. In technical terms super capacitors offer key advantages over lithium-ion type batteries in that they are potentially more compact and durable, while their performance does not decline over time due to multiple recharging.

CIFA’s latest addition to Energya: the E9 electric mixer mounted on a Volvo electric truck, a 100% electric vehicle that works in a fully sustainable manner. Energya - CIFA's brand with the first and only range of electric machines in the concrete industry - aims to reduce CO2 emissions and noise pollution on the job site to zero, helping to make the transport and laying of concrete more environmentally friendly. Thanks to the electrical operation, new opportunities are opening up for the use of heavy-duty vehicles, particularly in densely populated historic centres and on sites with restrictions, where lower environmental impact is an added value.
