The bauma 2025 construction machinery exhibition in Munich was a massive success

Joachim Schmid, managing director of Germany’s VDMA Construction – Equipment and Plant Engineering Association, was very positive about last week’s bauma 2025 construction machinery exhibition in Munich.

"The show is a great success and in some respects exceeds the business expectations of our member companies. The imminent formation of a government with the recently published coalition agreement and the expected investment packages are providing positive impetus, as is the trend towards greater concentration on the European market. Despite the uncertainties surrounding the customs issue, we do not see any reluctance to invest and can expect a similarly successful show to 2019.”

The three-yearly bauma construction, quarrying and mining machinery exhibition has been the largest exhibition of any kind anywhere in the world for some decades now. The event covers the entire site of Munich’s former airport in the east of the city.

“Overwhelmed" by the course of the fair, Joachim Strobel, chairman of the VDMA Trade Association, said that the industry was optimistic about the future and that customers were ready to invest - also thanks to the 500 billion euro investment package announced by the future German government.

As a conceptual partner of bauma, the VDMA Construction – Equipment and Plant Engineering Association set important thematic accents and organised numerous events during the fair. The THINK BIG! initiative for pupils and young students was very well attended with around 15,000 participants, and the contributing companies were very satisfied. Hall LAB0, which housed the Startup Area, the Science Hub, MiC 4.0 and the bauma Forum with its five focus days, was also very well attended. The high quality of the trade visitors and discussions as well as the large number of new and promising contacts were particularly praised. VDMA Mining & Minerals presented live interoperability demonstrations on its own stand. The Fluid Power and Power Transmission Engineering Association presented itself at bauma with a joint company stand.

With around 600,000 visitors from more than 200 countries and 3,601 exhibitors from 57 nations, bauma 2025 proved to be a stable foundation and forward-looking platform in turbulent times. Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München, is delighted: “We hosted around 600,000 visitors from more than 200 countries and regions. bauma is the heartbeat of the industry and has once again shown how crucial exchange and personal encounters are for progress and global trade. The Munich exhibition center sends out a strong signal of confidence for the entire industry.”

The world's leading trade fair for construction machinery will once again be held at the exhibition centre in Munich from April 3 to 9, 2028.
