The Austrian group 945 Strabag has been awarded a two-year contract worth €34.6mn for the modernisation of a 48km stretch of the national road M2 in the Republic of Moldova. The upgrade route runs between Ghindesti and Drochia.
Czech Transport Ministry has advanced four out of seven consortia for a €975 million D4 motorway contract between Příbram to Písek.
When signed, the 32km 25-year design-build-finance-operate contract will be the first of what the Czech government hopes will be more public-private partnerships.
A Vinci-led consortium is one of the chosen groups, consisting of Vinci Highways, Vinci Concessiones and Meridiam Investments of France. Another is a German-Austrian group of Strabag and Hochtief.

Work is starting on Poland’s S7 expressway. Italian firm Salini Impregilo is leading a consortium to construct a 21.5km stretch of the S7 expressway. The section lies between the Jedrzejow and Checiny junctions. The deal is worth nearly €144.67 million. The completion deadline is set for the third quarter of 2017. Eurovia Infrastructure is the only contractor to secure a position on all three Lots of the US $ 144.02 million (£90mn) Hertfordshire Highways Structural Maintenance and Surface Treatments Framework contracts. The contracts began on 1 October 2012 and will run for four years. Lot 1 of the Hertfordshire County Council contract covers carriageway and footway surface treatments; Lot 2 covers carriageway resurfacing; and Lot 3 covers general civil engineering.
