The Austrian group 945 Strabag has been awarded a two-year contract worth €34.6mn for the modernisation of a 48km stretch of the national road M2 in the Republic of Moldova. The upgrade route runs between Ghindesti and Drochia.
A Mexican firm has been awarded a major highway concession package in the country. Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura (Pinfra) will build, operate and maintain La Raza-Indios Verdes-Santa Clara motorway for a 30-year concession. The package of works was awarded by the Mexican Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT).
Pinfra’s offer was for a US$376.12 million deal for the implementation of the 10km route. This stretch of highway is expected to carry 50,000 vehicles/day. However, the offer

Austrian construction company Strabag’s “more than ambitious” €300million earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) target cannot be achieved, according to the firm’s management board.
The board say the projected EBIT can now only be reached by “about two thirds”.
