The Austrian group 945 Strabag has been awarded a two-year contract worth €34.6mn for the modernisation of a 48km stretch of the national road M2 in the Republic of Moldova. The upgrade route runs between Ghindesti and Drochia.
Contractor STRABAG is to work on the project to build a new bridge connection in South Africa. This structure is of note as it will be Africa’s highest bridge at 223m high. The 1,132m long bridge will span the Mtentu River in eastern South Africa, close to the town of Flagstaff. The contract has a value of around €106 million and the construction work is expected to take 40 months to complete. Key road construction projects are now moving forward in Bosnia with work on-track for the Sarajevo ringroad as well as the Corridor Vc highway. Construction of a 130km section of the Corridor Vc highway should be complete by 2014 according to Bosnia's Ministry of Transport and Telecoms. Work on the first section of the Sarajevo ringroad should be completed within five months, following the signing of an agreement worth €17 million between the Austrian firm Strabag and the Bosnian company HP Investing.
