Strabag bids for Ufa river road tunnel project

Strabag is keen to be involved in the construction of a road tunnel under the Ufa river in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Volga). Representatives of the Austrian company held a meeting with local authorities to discuss the terms of the project, including efforts to attract investors. Representatives of the Austrian company held a meeting with local authorities to discuss the terms of the project, including efforts to attract investors. According to the Ufa government, the project can be implemented only on terms of public and private partnership. Construction of the tunnel was started in 1992 and suspended in 2006. The 1.25km long and 50m deep tunnel was supposed to join the federal highways M5 and M7.
