Chinese contractor 5544 Sinohydro is to start a road construction project in Moldova worth €48 million. It is likely to be the first of several Chinese companies to carry out work in the country.
Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vucic said that part of the future Pozega-Boljare motorway towards Montenegro could be let under a concession to China.

A legal hiatus has delayed the construction of a highway in Tanzania linking Tunduru, Matemanga-Kilimasenra, Namtumbo, and Songea. Work has been suspended by the Tanzanian authorities following a dispute over whether the Progressive Constructions-Higleig Joint Venture (Progressive-Higleig) building the link has met performance targets. Meanwhile, the Tanzanian Ministry of Works is implementing four road upgrading projects in Tabora worth a combined value of around US$ 221.47 million (TZS 351.70bn).
In Ethiopia the construction of two new road links will be carried out by Chinese and Spanish contractors. The Ethiopia Roads Authority (ERA) awarded a contract worth close to US$48 million to Hunan Huanda Road and Bridge Corporation of China to build a 48.3km road in the south of the country. The work will take 29 months to complete. Two Spanish firms meanwhile will work together to carry out a $60.6 million contract in Ethiopia’s Oromia State. This project is for a 63km road connecting Ambo with Walliso.
