Chinese contractor 5544 Sinohydro is to start a road construction project in Moldova worth €48 million. It is likely to be the first of several Chinese companies to carry out work in the country.
Work on a new dual lane highway connecting La Paz with Santa Cruz in Bolivia is set to cost US$1 billion. The work will be complete by 2019 and the route will link La Paz with Santa Cruz, running through Cochabamba. The Bolivian Ministry of Public Works says that this project will be carried out in addition to previous developments to the road system between La Paz and Oruro. Chinese funding will help deliver the construction of a major new road project in Senegal. A loan worth US$704.6 million will help finance the construction of Senegal’s new 113km highway connecting Touba and Thiès. The contractor China Road and Bridge Construction (CRBC) will carry out the construction works, which is expected to require 45 months to complete. The loan will be paid back over a 25-year period using toll revenues.
