SSAB expands Wear plate
4877 SSAB has expanded its wear plate thicknesses to more closely meet the needs of its customers, the company announced at Conexpo 2014.

Providing adequate thickness is a key challenge in the marketplace. SSAB says it now offers wear plate thicknesses that range from 0.7mm to 160mm.

“This – combined with new dimensions and its ability to double as structural steel – allows even greater creativity and opens up new possibilities,” the company said. The new thicknesses are offered on plates up to 3.35m wide and 14.5m long.

The company also stated it continues to balance hardness, toughness and workability, regardless of grade or thickness.

The plates with expanded thickness were featured at the show. Also on display were Hardox wear plates; Weldox structural steel for heavy and demanding applications; Domex structural steel for sustainable and lightweight solutions; Toolox pre-hardened engineering and tool steel; and overlay plate, pins and pipes.

Visitors also were able to see the “wear stairs” to see various wearing scenarios and products that can help reduce it. Also available were videos and other displays that showed savings in weight, and gains in strength and wear resistance, that result from the Hardox product.www.ssab.com
