South Korean island aims for all-electric vehicles by 2030

Jejudo Island in South Korea wants all vehicles used on the island to be electric by 2030. The province is working towards adding over 500 electric vehicles in use in 2014, while the number of fast and slow-charging vehicles is set to be increased by 21 and 500, respectively, said Kang Dong-woo, section chief of the smart grid office under the provincial administration.

    This new analysis has been published by the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC). According to the ETSC data, 2014 showed the lowest annual reduction in EU road deaths since 2001.     According to All Pakistan Marble Mining Processing Industry and Exporters Association chairman Sanaullah Khan, marble exports totalled US$70 million (€51 million) from July 2013 to April 2014, a 45% year-on-year increase.   • Sweden appoints Veidekke Anläggning to Förbifart Stockholm work

    Sweden’s transport administration Trafikverket has appointed Veidekke Anläggning as a temporary contractor for work on the Lovön section of the Stockholm Bypass - Förbifart Stockholm. The deal is worth around €9.6 million. The contractor will take over work started by a tender winner whose contract has been cancelled, according to Swedish media.
