3482 Vahostav-SK will carry out work on a 16km section of the D1 highway near Martin and Vrutky in neighbouring Slovakia in a deal worth €137 million. The €115 million contract is for the Presov section linking Bratislava with Kosice.
The Slovakian government is being asked for financial compensation by Granvia, the group building the country’s new Nitra-Banska Bystrica highway.
Granvia is building the highway under the PPP model through a 30-year concession deal. The compensation has been requested due to delays that have been caused by the need for archaeological investigations along the route.
Slovakia’s Ministry of Transport is to finance construction work on the 75km section of D1 highway between Martin and Presov from state funds, with work expected to start in the second quarter of 2011.
Stretches of a major new highway project in Slovakia are opening for traffic. Two sections of the D1 highway are opening by the end of 2015. Slovakian National Motorway Company has said that the second section of the 9.5km D1 highway stretch from Janovce-Jablonov, near the town of Levoca, will open by the end of 2015. The other section set to open will be the D1 stretch from Fricovce – Svinia and located near Presov. During 2015 NDS planned to open five new motorway stretches, of which three are already in
Austrian contractor Strabag has won a stake in a design and build road contract in Poland. The project is worth a total of €133 million and involves building a section of highway carrying three lanes in either direction. The firm will work on the project to build another stretch of the A1 highway in Poland. The 17km long Section C begins at the Kamieńsk junction and ends at Radomsko, where the construction of a motorway interchange forms part of the order.
