Major cost reductions are being seen on some key highway projects in Russia including the new ring road project in St Petersburg, where the reduction is US$192.31 million. The management of the ring road in St Petersburg has signed an agreement with the main contractors (Flora, the corporation Inzhtransstroy) to cut costs by 12-17.6% in 2009-2010. Four Chinese contractors are involved in the bidding process for work on Brunei’s Temburong Bridge project. This is the second phase for the bridge project, as a local contractor, Swee, and a South Korean company, Daelim Industrial, won the tender process for the first phase of the work. There are five phases in all for the 30km Temburong Bridge project. In all the project is expected to cost some US$1.21 billion to construct. The contract award for Columbia’s 9.75km Toyo Tunnel project will be made on September 28, according to Columbian media.
The tunnel, costing almost US$760, will be part of a new 39km road between Santa Fe de Antioquia and Canasgordas.
World Highways reported in January that the central government will contribute $216 million towards the project, the regional government of Antioquia department will contribute $337 million and the Medellin city government will pitch in with $212 million.
