5872 Sibmost and the Automobile Roads Department of the Krasnoyarsk Region have signed a US$371.07million (RR12billion) contract to construct the first phase of the fourth highway bridge in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia.
Exports of US construction equipment are still in decline according to the latest Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) market update. The AEM report shows that exports of US-made construction equipment dropped 17.6% for the first three quarters of 2015 compared to January-September 2014, for a total $10.8 billion shipped worldwide.
Caterpillar’s financial results for 2016 reflect the tough trading conditions that US construction machine firms in particular have been experiencing. In another development, the firm is looking to move its global corporate headquarters from Peoria to Chicago.
Key highway projects are progressing in Australia. In the state of Victoria, the authorities are planning a road widening project for the Monash Freeway that will cost an estimated US$289.54 million (A$400 million). The project calls for the route to be widened to five lanes in either direction for the stretch between the EastLink and the South Gippsland Highway.
