The Dubai branch office of Shantui Construction Machinery recently scored a deal with a Middle Eastern client worth US$18 million.

Negotiations began in July, and concluded with an order for a total of 205 units. This marks the largest contract signed by 1171 Shantui in the Middle East. Included in the order is a wide array of products such as bulldozers, excavators, wheeled loaders and forklifts.

“This is a huge step forward for Shantui in an ever-growing market,” said Jackie Chang, general manager of Shantui’s Dubai subsidiary, covering the Middle East and Northern Africa. “The increased investment in infrastructure has created excellent opportunities for our diversified line of products.”

Aware of the increasing demand in the region, and seeking to meet the needs of the customer, Shantui has constantly been developing new and innovative technologies with desert conditions in mind. The power trains and hydraulics on machinery such as the SD32D and SD42D bulldozers, and now certain Shantui excavators and wheeled loaders, are designed to operate in harsh desert sands and temperatures. The dozers come off the production line already configured for desert conditions.  A desert version of Shantui's top-of-the-range SD52-5 dozer is also under development.

Sophisticated on-board weighing systems for use with wheeled loaders and excavators are being offered by Loup Electronics. The innovative LOADEX 100 is a retrofittable scale installed on tracked and wheeled excavators and material handlers to weigh the amount of material load in the bucket or grab. Pressure signals are captured, filtered and corrected by measuring the angle of the main boom using either an RDS Inclinometer or Mechanical Angle sensor. When used dynamically, the pressures are captured through

    January 6, 2017
LiuGong is now offering a compact bulldozer that features a hydrostatic drive system, allowing a high degree of manoeuvrability. The CLGB110 dozer is powered by a Cummins diesel rated at 82kW and which meets Tier 3/Stage IIIA emissions legislation. Because of the hydrostatic drive, the machine has a tight turning circle while the graduated speed changing means that track wear rates are reduced. Weighing in at 9.9tonnes, the bulldozer is offered with different blade types depending on the application.

Bridgestone has launched three additional tyre lines, each with a specific duty cycle in mind. The DFAS range is initially available in a 17.5R25 size and is intended as an all-weather tyre for graders. The tyre has pyramid-shaped tread blocks with two lateral grooves to rapidly clear snow. As the tyre wears the blocks in effect get wider, providing continued grip in all conditions.
