Heavy investment in research and development at 1171 Shantui has seen the introduction of an array of new machines, including that of its largest ever concrete pump. This launch is part of a steady diversification on the part of Shantui, which is expanding its range from its previous reliance on crawler dozers. The new HJC5410THB-56 pump runs on a four axle truck chassis and weighs 42tonnes, while it measures 13.85m long. With its six section boom it can provide concrete to a height of 56m and can deliver material at a maximum design rate of 170m3/min. A rugged structure is said to maximise stability and durability while it has X-configuration outriggers. At 2.5m wide it can be driven on most highways and is said to offer high mobility, while its 4m height with the boom folded allows it to be driven safely under most conventional road bridges and overpasses. A series of safety systems minimise the risk of accidents while control is said to be easy, with manual and automatic operating modes.
Boppard based BOMAG is unveiling its new 5-8tonne class soil compactors, which are said to offer increased performance and lower running costs. Compact, manoeuvrable and economical the BW145 and BW177 machines are said to be highly productive and suited to use on small-medium size projects. High performance is claimed for compaction, gradeability and efficiency and Judith Rheingans of the firm said, “The operator platform has been redesigned to give better visibility and access. The operator can see the dru
Gradall Industries largest wheeled excavator model – the XL 5300 III – is on show at Conexpo 2014.
Weighing 23.2tonnes, the XL 5300 III is said by Gradall to be designed for high productivity jobs on every terrain. With its new yellow Gradall colour scheme, the machine has a maximum reach of 10.3m and a dig depth of up to 7.5m. Its rated bucket breakout force is 113kN, and the rated boom force is 111kN.

Terex Cranes has replaced its CC2800-1 crawler crane with the Superlift 3800 lattice boom, offering improved speed and efficiency for customers. The 3800 can handle loads of up to 650tonnes at a radius of 5-12m and has a maximum load moment of 8,426t/m. Terex says that customers have been involved in the new crane’s development from the start, resulting in improvements in many areas. The crane uses the Terex Crane Fall Protection System, with additional railings installed around the superstructure. It is th
