Serbian contractor Milos Trans will start work on the Serbia’s Corridor 11 highway during 2012. The firm will carry out work on the stretch running from Preljina to Takovo. Funding for the Ub-Lajkovac section of this highway will be provided by the Serbian Government. The 50km section of the highway from Ljig-Preljina of 50km will be financed by international loans. Serbia is already holding talks with Turkish and Azerbaijani firms. The work is estimated to cost in the region of €500 million. Meanwhile the Serbian Government hopes to receive funding for much-needed infrastructure work from the 1054 European Investment Bank (EIB). Amongst the projects the EIB has said it may provide funds for is the pan-European Corridor X highway. And Azerbaijani contractor AzVirt will commence construction of three new sections for the Belgrade-Cacak highway in March 2012. The work is due for completion by 2015, although the cost of the project has not been revealed.
