Sennebogen launches new 655 HD heavy-duty cycle crawler crane

The new Sennebogen 655 D is a powerful and heavy-duty crawler crane
2924 Sennebogen’s new 655 HD heavy-duty cycle crawler crane is one of several innovations on the company’s stand at 688 Bauma. Designed for heavy-duty tasks on construction sites and in the extractive industry, the 655 D can be used with a dragline bucket or in foundation construction. The 55tonne capacity machine can be used with a 3.5m3 Hendrix dragline bucket, for instance, and it uses two 16tonne winches driven by high-pressure regulated variable displacement hydraulic motors. There is a continuously-variable free fall brake to protect the operator and an optimised control system to save fuel. The machine also comes with a double pin boom head as standard, for multiple reeving and large lifting loads regardless of whether it is fitted with a diaphragm wall grab, leads or piping machinery, says Sennebogen.

If desired a single pin boom head can alternatively be used – perfect for operation in conjunction with wide pulleys with special rope grooves. Here the grab can pass exactly through the precisely-dimensioned pulley, making changing grabs a quick and simple process. Because of its lighter weight and wide range of equipment variants available, the 655 D can work with a grab, crane or wrecker's ball and can also be turned into a fully-fledged crawler crane if required. Using a jib, heights of up to 56 m are easily attainable. And, the 655 HD is the first machine in Sennebogen's crane line to feature temperature-controlled fan drives, an automatic start-stop system and exhaust gas treatment. It is driven by a 261kW 178 Caterpillar diesel engine and a multi-circuit hydraulic system. At 3.3m wide, the crane can be carried on a conventional flatbed truck. With the help of the hydraulically adjustable A-frame, the 655 HD can also independently ballast itself. Finally, a new E Series of materials handling machines will be on view too.

  • Liebherr’s HS8300HD crawler uses hybrid drive to reduce fuel consumption
    February 7, 2013
Liebherr has developed a hybrid drive system for its HS8300HD heavy duty cycle crawler crane. The 350 tonne machine generates electrical power from its hydraulic free-fall winches, which offer up to 50 tonnes of line pull. Under this Pactronic system surplus energy is stored in a hydraulic accumulator and regenerated to assist the engine, reducing fuel consumption. This reuse of energy also cuts emissions from the machine.

Sany America is offering a new 500 tonne class crawler crane aimed to fill a gap in its range that suits duties in infrastructure projects. The Sany SCC8500 is well-suited for construction of 100m wind towers and placing 2.5MW nacelles. The SCC8500 can make these lifts with a straight boom and an offset wind tip, with no need for a back mast. With a full complement of attachments and options, including fixed jib, luffing jib and the SANY UltraLift package, the SCC8500 can also be used in infrastructure proj
