Russia’s key highway opening planned

Russia’s M-11 highway connecting its capital Moscow with the second city, St Petersburg, will be fully open to traffic in 2018. The new tolled highway will cut journey times by road between the two cities, providing an important transport link. The 669km highway is one of the most important road projects carried out in Russia in recent years and the link will be operated by the country’s state-owned firm, Avtodor.

    In Russia’s capital Moscow, a key viaduct is now open to traffic, which will help reduce the city’s chronic congestion problem. The viaduct is 820m long by 15m wide and carries traffic over the Dmitrovskoe Highway. The work on the viaduct included repairing a 367m long stretch as well as installing noise attenuation barriers along its sides.
