Plans are in hand in Russia to improve the main highway that connects the country with Finland and the Scandinavian nations of Sweden and Norway.

Plans are in hand in Russia to improve the main highway that connects the country with Finland and the Scandinavian nations of Sweden and Norway. Russia's 2865 Federal Highway Agency, Rosavtodor, is working on the plans for the upgrade to the Scandinavia highway, which runs from St Petersburg through Helsinki and eventually connects with Oslo. Under the plans, the highway will be widened to six lanes, with three in either direction. Estimates of US$1.5 billion have been set for the highway upgrade project in Russia.

The Kerch Strait bridge spans the Black Sea, connecting Russia’s Taman Peninsula in Krasnodar with Crimea, the latter having been controversially annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014.     Arab partners have been secured as co-investors for construction of the third and fourth phase of Moscow’s Central Ring Road, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported. Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), made the announcement earlier this month during a meeting of the State Council's presidium in Novosibirsk, chaired by president Vladimir Putin. Dmitriev did not name the Arab partners but said they “have confirmed their desire” to invest in the third and fourth phases.
