Plans are in hand in Russia to improve the main highway that connects the country with Finland and the Scandinavian nations of Sweden and Norway.

Plans are in hand in Russia to improve the main highway that connects the country with Finland and the Scandinavian nations of Sweden and Norway. Russia's 2865 Federal Highway Agency, Rosavtodor, is working on the plans for the upgrade to the Scandinavia highway, which runs from St Petersburg through Helsinki and eventually connects with Oslo. Under the plans, the highway will be widened to six lanes, with three in either direction. Estimates of US$1.5 billion have been set for the highway upgrade project in Russia.
