Rostov to invest in south region roads

The Rostov region will have invested nearly US$361 million in its southern road networks this year. Around $220 million will be spent on regional roads, including $84 million on construction and renovation, $57 million on maintenance, $43 million in repairs and $25 million on overhaul. The Rostov region will have invested nearly US$361 million in its southern road networks this year.

Around $220 million will be spent on regional roads, including $84 million on construction and renovation, $57 million on maintenance, $43 million in repairs and $25 million on overhaul.

Municipalities will receive subsidies totaling $134 million, including nearly $86 million for construction, renovation and overhaul of intra-city, intra-village and inter-village roads and pedestrian ways. Around $25 million has been set aside for repair and maintenance of regional roads.

The region will have renovated about 350km of motorways this year.

    In Denmark’s northern Jutland, Leica Geosystems’ equipment is being used to help build a 40km motorway, one of the fastest-built such projects in the country’s history. The Danish Road Directorate is the client for the €5.4 million motorway between the two Danish cities of Herning, to the south with around 50,000 people, and Holstebro, a city of about 35,000 people, north of Herning. Preliminary ground investigations were made in 2013 and work started in 2015 with completion set for 2018.

The announcement was made by Transport Minister Simon Bridges after the government approved the draft Government Policy Paper 2015.
