Romanian road project

Romania's new Basarab-Constanta highway stretch and the Constanta ring road will be partially open for traffic in July 2011.

Romania's new Basarab-Constanta highway stretch and the Constanta ring road will be partially open for traffic in July 2011. One lane of the highway stretch will be opened and this forms part of the Medgidia-Constanta link. The highway project is being carried out by 1324 Astaldi and Max Boegl and is expected to cost €211 million. Funding is being provided by the 1054 European Investment Bank (EIB) and Romania's state budget.

    Interest is strong in Brazil’s BR-101 highway project. The tender for the project will open on 18th January 2012. According to Brazil's Land Transport Agency (ANTT), at least six groups, most Brazilian, have shown interest in the project.     A Chinese contractor will carry out a major highway project in Bolivia. The company, Sinohydro, will construct a new road section close to El Sillar and the work will form part of the highway connecting Santa Cruz with Cochabamba.
