Claude van Rooten, president of the PIARC, the World Road Association: heading for PPRS Nice 2018 in March
The Paris-based World Road Association – 3141 PIARC – is backing the Pavement Preservation Recycling Summit (PPRS) to be held in Nice next month.

PPRS, organised by Routes de France, 7575 ERF (1202 European Road Federation) and IBEF (International Bitumen Emulsion Federation), is set for the Nice Acropolis on March 26-28.

“We hope that the exchange of international best practice will be enabled and that, once again, this will bring about performance and efficiency gains that will benefit speakers and participants,” said Claude van Rooten, president of the PIARC.

PPRS Nice 2018 - an international forum on the maintenance and modernisation of road infrastructure – will look at the global challenge: to reduce the carbon footprint of transport and improve road safety.

The event offers a unique opportunity to discuss new technologies and the adaptation of new services, new functions and uses of highway infrastructure.

This congress will be in three languages - English, French and Spanish - and each speaker will elect the language of his choice.

“One of our members' first concerns is the proper management of their road assets. How to plan servicing and maintenance work? What strategies to adopt? How to mobilise suitable financing? How to measure performance?

“On a subject like this, all political, financial, organisational or technical points of view are necessary because they complement one another,” said van Rooten.

“I would even say that the public sector must work hand-in-hand with its private sector partners, as we do in PIARC, all within the wide family of road and transport. I will take part in the summit, as will many PIARC members. I look forward to meeting you in Nice, where we will jointly make a brilliant success of this summit.”

For every five people registered, a sixth can register free for the event in southern France at the Nice Acropolis from March 26-28.
