Rivard’s RIV253 TR103 wheeled trencher is being re-marketed as ideal for fibre optic cable laying projects
2424 Rivard believes its RIV253 TR103 wheeled trencher can help fulfil plans to provide high-speed internet access for homes across the Republic.

France Telecom is spending €2bn installing fibre optic cables in Paris, 15 other large cities and some smaller provincial cities, up until 2015. The project, which has received strong support from the French Government, has created a lucrative opportunity for companies, such as Rivard, that can provide appropriate machines for the nationwide installation work.

Weighing 15.5tonnes and fitted with a 186kW engine, the Rivard TR103 wheeled trencher can provide micro-trenching of up to 180mm width and 800mm depth.

Providing fast and clean work, micro-trenching is said by Rivard to provide fast and clean work, limiting nuisance to residents. It is said to be the best choice for semi-urban areas, as traffic is back to normal quicker, with reduced costs. The method is also seen to be contributing to a sustainable development policy.
