Plans have been revealed for a new ring road project in Turkmenistan. The project looks likely to cost over US$223 million. The deal to build the road has been awarded to contractor Vozrozhdenie.
An international consortium has been formed that will handle a major highway project in Kazakhstan. Worth US$730 million, the consortium’s contract is to build and operate a new tolled ring road around the capital, Almaty. The construction consortium comprises the Turkish contractors Alarko and Makyol, SK Engineering & Construction and Korea Expressway. A district court in the Polish town of Olsztyn has ruled in favour of a consortium of Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman which challenged the awarding of a ringroad contract to a rival. The ruling means that the Salini consortium’s winning bid for the construction of a ringroad around Ostroda is overturned on the basis that it was ineffectually low.
