Plans have been revealed for a new ring road project in Turkmenistan. The project looks likely to cost over US$223 million. The deal to build the road has been awarded to contractor Vozrozhdenie.
A new road development project in Myanmar is now underway. The work will see and improved connection between Paletwa and Zorinpui. The project is being carried out by the Indian contractor C&C Construction. The work is costing US$245.3 million. The deal was awarded in mid-2017 but construction work has been delayed until all the necessary approvals have been given.
Mirbud has been awarded a €155 million contract to build a 25km ring road around the Polish town of Olesno. The ring-road will be part of a new S11 expressway.
Other companies which competed for the contract include Strabag, Budimex, Porr and Polaqua.
Olesno, with a population of around 10,000, lies about 40km from the city of Opole in southwestern Poland.
Ethiopia is planning a series of road projects as part of its Growth & Transformation Plan. These road projects are worth close to US$128 million in total, with the plans being managed by the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA). Four construction companies have been awarded the contracts by the ERA. The Chinese contractor CGC Overseas Construction Group will rebuild the 60km Shambu-Backo link in a deal worth $45.7 million, providing the existing gravel road with a new asphalt surface.
