Qinghai to see US$237.8million spent on bridges and rural roads

The Chinese province of Qinghai will this year see US$237.83million spent on 300 new bridges and 2,000km of new rural roads in farm and pastoral areas. In 2011, a total of $289.49million was spent on creating 306 new bridges and 1,767km of rural roads in Qinghai. The sum also paid for the upgrade of 5,901km of rural roads.

    The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is providing a US$400 million loan to Guatemala for rural road construction. This follows on from a $200 million loan being provided to Guatemala by the World Bank and a $237 million loan from the IADB. The Guatemalan Government is also working on upgrading CA9 Norte highway to make it reach Mayuelas completing an 89km extension at a cost of $240 million. The authorities also have plans to replace 60-70 bridges with new structures.

  • Thailand Government plans infrastructure programme

    Major plans are in hand in Thailand for transport infrastructure development. The country’s Ministry of Transport is revising its construction plans for a series of key transport infrastructure projects at present. Several selected plans will then be presented to the cabinet in mid-December 2015. A total of five public-private partnership (PPP) ventures are among projects that will be re-submitted to the cabinet for approval. Two of these PPP projects are highways that will cost an estimated US$3.9 billion.
