Projects under scrutiny in Mexico

Close scrutiny of projects awarded to contractors MCC and OHL is being carried out in the Mexican state of Puebla.

Close scrutiny of projects awarded to contractors 1351 MCC and 980 OHL is being carried out in the Mexican state of Puebla. The new administration in the state is evaluating contracts these two firms that were agreed by the previous administration. The focus of the investigation will be the purchase of land for certain projects. Both MCC and OHL have carried out a string of infrastructure projects in Puebla State. However, the Libramiento Norte and Poniente projects, which are worth a total of US$166 million, are going ahead as planned for the time being.

    Spanish construction firm, OHL, has presented an offer to operate the 56km Guadalajara-Colima motorway in Mexico for 12 years. The motorway is being heavily restructured, with the expansion of its four lanes. The first phase of these works has already been completed and investment to date has totalled US $ 54.81million. A further $ 263.66 million is being invested by Banobras on current works. Offers to operate the Guadalajara-Colima motorway must be presented by mid-September 2012.

    The Mexican Secretariat of Communications and Transport has announced that US$7.8 billion, from both public and private sectors, is being invested in road projects as a consequence of the new Mexico City International Airport.     A series of major road transport projects are moving ahead in Colombia, with the country’s national infrastructure agency (ANI), handling most of the deals.
