Portuguese firm wins Mozambique deal

A new road project in Mozambique will see the rebuilding of the link between Namialo and Rio Lúrio, in Nampula province.

A new road project in Mozambique will see the rebuilding of the link between Namialo and Rio Lúrio, in Nampula province. The work will be carried out by a Portuguese contractor, 2753 Monte Adriano. The contract involves rebuilding the main road connecting Namialo with Rio Lúrio and the work has come about through the assistance of the Millenium Challenge Account. The rebuilding project is estimated to be worth close to US$50 million.

    Construction work on the road connecting the Bolivian towns of Riberalta and Rurrenabaque has been halted. The project to upgrade Bolivia’s Route 8 is being carried out by a Chinese contractor.     Work on four new road projects in India will be carried out by Spanish contractor Isolux Corsan. In all the work is worth US$306.5 million. The 130km stretch of road connecting Talcher with Chandikole in Odisha is costing $124.9 million to construct. One stretch is for a 160km road between Phalodi and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.     Road development work continues in India, with the country planning its highway infrastructure expansion. The projects are being planned by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). A new 127km highway will connect Lucknow with Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The four lane route will also pass through Ayyubganj and Musafirkhana and is expected to cost in the region of US$425.3 million to construct. The work is being carried out by the contractor Dilip Buildon.
