Polish plans progressing

Plans are moving forward for a series of key highway projects in Poland. One project involves constructing three sections of the new southern ring road around Polish capital Warsaw. Building the 18.5km stretch that comprises the three sections is expected to cost in the region of €1.6 billion.

Plans are moving forward for a series of key highway projects in Poland. One project involves constructing three sections of the new southern ring road around Polish capital Warsaw.

Building the 18.5km stretch that comprises the three sections is expected to cost in the region of €1.6 billion. The 3519 Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) also has plans to construct three sections of the S6 express road from Goleniow near Szczecin to Koszalin, with a total length of 53.4km. GDDKiA expects that each section will take up to 37 months to construct with the whole project having an estimated price of some €718.4 million.

Plans are in hand too for the 36km S3 dual carriageway project, which will link the cities of Legnica with Bolkow as well as for ring roads around the Polish city of Radom and the town of Gora Kalwarii. There are also plans for a new dual carriageway section of the S8 between Radziejowice and Paszko expected to cost €716.5 million, as well as for the €351 million S7 route to connect Olsztynek and Milomyn with the Ostroda ring road.

Other planned works are for the €171 million Rzeszow - Jaroslaw section of the A4 highway and the €103 million S8 dual carriageway between Warsaw and Bialystok.

According to declarations of the Polish Infrastructure and Development Ministry, work on the S14 project will commence in 2016.
