Polish highways busy

Poland has invested some €5.15 billion on road projects in 2010. The Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) signed contracts to build 544km of roads, including 300km of highways and 244km of dual carriageways. Of this 15% came from the Polish Government, while some 85% came from the National Road Fund (KFD).

Poland has invested some €5.15 billion on road projects in 2010. The 3519 Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) signed contracts to build 544km of roads, including 300km of highways and 244km of dual carriageways. Of this 15% came from the Polish Government, while some 85% came from the National Road Fund (KFD). The work carried out in 2010 includes repairs to 767km of roads and the construction of 156km of new roads. At present, work on 1,434km of roads is in process. A recent report from 2484 Business Monitor International says that Poland is benefiting from construction industry growth of 4.6% in 2010 and 4.5% in 2011. The infrastructure sector is the major growth area and is expected to grow 10.2% in 2011. BMI estimates that €24.65 billion worth of road projects are under way in Poland at present.
