Poland's infrastructure expenditure drops

Europe’s road building contractors are likely to see a drop in activity levels in Poland in coming years. This is likely to spark concern in the industry as Poland has been a major source of revenue in recent years due to the expansion of its road network.

The country’s expenditure on road building may well shrink in the next EU budget. Poland’s Infrastructure Ministry 1361 GDDKiA has said that the pace of road building in the country will drop considerably after 2013. GDDKiA said that it had no information as yet about how much Poland would get for road building in the new EU budget, but an initial list had been drawn up with priority investments and these were worth over €14.81 billion. By the end of 2011 GDDKiA)is to receive a sum of €4.33 billion from the 2465 European Commission (EC) to be used for road transport investments. Some 90% of the subsidies have already been granted by the GDDKiA to the contractors.
