PNG plans infrastructure upgrades

The authorities in Papua New Guinea (PNG) will be able to boost transport infrastructure following the provision of a development assistance grant worth US$371.35 million.

The authorities in Papua New Guinea (PNG) will be able to boost transport infrastructure following the provision of a development assistance grant worth US$371.35 million. This has been provided by the government of Australia and will be used to supporting PNG's National Transport Development Plan and National Transport Strategy 2010-2030. Much of the grant will be put into upgrading key road links as well as airports.

  • Planned highway upgrade for Mexico’s Sonoro State

    Plans are in hand to upgrade a major highway in Mexico’s Sonoro state. A budget of US$1.6 billion has been set in place for the necessary work. The highway will be widened and will feature two traffic lanes in either direction once the work is complete. The plans for the project have been set out by Mexico’s Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT).     Funding worth US$1.2 billion will help pay for the stage two portion of the project to upgrade the Northwest Trade Corridor project in Bangladesh. The highway will improve transport connections to and from Dhaka, with stage two being for the 190km stretch between Elenga and Rangpur. This funding is being provided by the Philippines-based Asian Development Bank (ADB), although further financing from the Bangladesh Government will pay for the remaining $472.6 million required for this highway section.
