Philippines pushes planned PPP programme

A number of key infrastructure projects will be carried out in the Philippines under the PPP model. The North Luzon-South Luzon expressway (NLEx-SLEx) link will be carried out as part of the country's PPP programme. Florencio B Abad, Budget Secretary, said that the project will link Makati City and Caloocan City with a 13.4km, four-lane elevated expressway of 13.4km. This project is worth US$495.4 million. The $46 million Daang Hari-South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) link will be built under the PPP model and has attracted bids from 18 companies so far. Formal bids are to be submitted to the 2569 Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) by 28th December 2011. Bid documents can be bought from the Central Procurement Office until 16th September 2011. The 18 bidders for the Philippines Government's first public-private partnership (PPP) deal include Metro Pacific Tollways, Citra Metro Manila Tollways, Optimal Infrastructure Development, Malaysia's 1296 MTD Group, Makati Development, UEM-MARA Philippines, China International Water & Electric and 3192 DM Consunji. The project includes the building of a four-lane, 4km paved toll road.
