Paraguayan project pushes on

Work on the new Avenida Costanera road in the Paraguayan city of Asuncion is progressing on track.

Work on the new Avenida Costanera road in the Paraguayan city of Asuncion is progressing on track. The 3.8km link is being part funded by a loan from the 2791 Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The project is costing US$125 million. So far the necessary landscaping work has been carried out and work on much of the surfacing is commencing shortly. The 18 month construction project is due for completion in early 2012, according to the 3421 Paraguay Ministry of Public Works (MOPC).

    Funding is being provided for our projects that form part of Colombia’s 4G road development programme. The Inter-American Development Bank Group’s private sector subsidiary, IDB Invest, is supplying close to US$207 million for the four road projects to the development firms handling the works. IDB Invest is in turn borrowing the sum from Colombia’s national development bank Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional (FDN).     Paraguay's Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has requested a US$289.45 million donation from the Mercosur Structural Convergence Fund (Focem) for the second stage of the Costanera road project (Costanera II) and a second bridge connecting the country to Brazil.     Construction of the Interamericana Norte highway in Costa Rica is said to be proceeding on track. Work is being carried out on the 50km Canas-Liberia section of the project.
