Panama plans new highway link

Panama's Government is giving its approval for changes to the contract for the second stage of the Madden-Colon highway.

Panama's Government is giving its approval for changes to the contract for the second stage of the Madden-Colon highway. Under the new terms the concession holder Concesionaria Madden-Colon, a subsidiary of Brazilian contractor 1305 Odebrecht, has until 2012 to complete the 15km project. The work is expected to cost US$218.5 million.

    A series of major highway projects are now being planned in the Philippines. The largest of this most recent set of highway projects to be announced is for the US$1.24 billion NLEx-Cavitex Port Expressway Link put forward. Measuring 15km the route would be constructed featuring four lanes. This proposed link would connect the Cavite Expressway and North Luzon Expressway in Metro Manila. The proposal for the project has been made by Manila North Tollways, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Investments.

    Brazil's national land transport agency ANTT has launched a public consultation concerning a proposed contract extension of 13 years for the NovaDutra highway concession held by CCR. The deal covers the Rodovia Presidente Dutra highway between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, according to a report by the Valor Economico newspaper. Consultations will run for 30 days until mid-April and include two sessions in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
