Work is due to start shortly to connect the Avenida Balboa and Avenida de los Poetas roads in Panama. The deal is worth close to US$777 million and includes work on the third phase of the Cinca Costera road.

Work is due to start shortly to connect the Avenida Balboa and Avenida de los Poetas roads in Panama. The deal is worth close to US$777 million and includes work on the third phase of the Cinca Costera road. The contract was awarded by the 1337 Panamanian Ministry Of Public Works to Brazilian construction company 1305 Odebrecht. The new link will form part of a series of road redevelopment and improvement projects in Panama city aimed at improving traffic and the capital's road network. Odebrecht will also carry out road work in Panama's Old Quarter and Historic Centre.

    A series of major highway projects are now being planned in the Philippines. The largest of this most recent set of highway projects to be announced is for the US$1.24 billion NLEx-Cavitex Port Expressway Link put forward. Measuring 15km the route would be constructed featuring four lanes. This proposed link would connect the Cavite Expressway and North Luzon Expressway in Metro Manila.     In Chile the Colombian highway operator ISA will carry out comprehensive repairs to Ruta 5 before the end of 2010. The company has been criticised by Chile’s Ministry for Public Works (MOP) for constant delays to road repair works following February's earthquake.
