Construction work to develop Pakistan’s motorway network will boost the country’s economic activity significantly. The new routes are expected to cut journey times and facilitate trade.

One of the most important projects is for the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway. This will improve transport for the south of the country.

Plans are also underway to widen the M-12 Motorway linking Sialkot and Kharian and the M-13 Motorway linking Kharian and Rawalpindi. Both will feature three lanes in either direction once the upgrade work is complete, boosting transport and cutting congestion and journey times. A Malaysian contractor meanwhile will carry out work for the M-9 Motorway route.

Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is supporting work for the projects, while funding for some of the work is being provided via the National Highway Authority (NHA).
