Pakistan project benefiting from Saudi Arabia funding

Work on the construction of the Swat Expressway in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is now commencing. Financial assistance for the project worth US32.6 million is being provided by Saudi Arabia. In all the project is expected to cost $364.35 million to construct however. This new stretch is costing US$1.53 billion and will form part of the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway (PKM). The plans call for the project to be carried out under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, although the details have yet to be finalised.
